Roku made headlines last week when it was rumored that the streaming TV box maker was in the process of weighing an initial public offering (IPO) in 2014.

Nothing official has been announced yet, but Bloomberg mentioned a few details about the rumor from unidentified sources familiar with the matter.

Amazon bringing a streaming TV box to market in 2014 to challenge Roku and Apple TV?

With Amazon’s streaming content offerings on its Prime service, there seems to be some speculation that the world’s #1 online retailer is working on a competing streaming TV box.

Worth mentioning is Amazon’s acquisition earlier this month of game maker, Double Helix, which may be somehow tied to an Amazon offering a streaming box with gaming capability. Or a game console. Or both.

New Themes and Third-party support for Customizable Roku Home Screen
Roku will soon offer customizable home screens to its interface, offering users a way to personalize their Roku experience. GigaOM originally broke the story earlier in February, but users should start to see availability of the customizable themes and skins within the next week or two.
