World Series Game 2 a no-go for Cablevision customers
Cablevision customers are still without their local Fox channels, WNYW Fox 5, WTXF Fox 29 and WWOR My9, with just an hour before Game 2 of the World Series starting.
The dispute between Fox Network and Cablevision over retransmission fees has reached a stalemate after Fox rejected Cablevision’s offer on Wednesday.
The impasse between the two companies has continued into this evening, though Cablevision has tried to make good with its customers by offering a credit back for watching the World Series online at MLB.com.
On a related note, a group of New York customers have filed a federal lawsuit against Cablevision today. Their argument is based on Cablevision’s obligation to give customers a rebate for other Fox programming too such as Fox News, Glee, House, The Simpsons, NFL football, among others. The class action is asking for $450 million in damages, which is close to the equivalent of one month’s cable bill for the company’s three million plus subscribers.
