Brought to you by Ryan Murphy, the creator of American Horror Story and Scream Queens, the trailer promises high octane drama as it fictitiously retells the events of the People of the State of California vs Orenthal James Simpson. Like American Horror Story, Murphy’s new series will be an anthology. The first season will cover the O.J. Simpson trial and any subsequent seasons will focus on various other historic court cases.

Simpson began on November 2nd, 1994, after the defendant had been charged with the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and a waiter named Ronald Lyle Goodman in June 1994. Simpson, who was widely recognized for his work as a professional American football player and actor, put together a high-profile defense team consisting of Robert Sharpio, Johnnie Cochran and Robert Kardashian along with seven other lawyers in various specialized fields of expertise. Nicknamed “The Trial of the Century”, the case lasted for eight months before Simpson was acquitted.
The verdict, which occurred at 10am on October 3rd, 1995, is estimated to have been listened to and watched by over 100 million people.
