Carpenter Bees.....

Well apparently my back yard is a pretty serious Carpenter Bee war zone! Can't even go out there the past two days. They don't sting but they do make sure they do whatever they can to annoy you into leaving. I'm going to have to make a trip to the home improvement store and regain control of my yard HA!

My problem is paper wasps. They build their nests everywhere and anywhere. Real nuisance...

Haven't seen many yet this spring but they too are quiet annoying and dangerous to my kids. Youngest got stung a few summers ago after bumping into the chimanea and finding out a nest was built in it.

I've found the only way to deal with them is to get after them early in the season. That way they move on for the rest of the year - usually to the neighbor's house!

Yeah, they are like gophers. If you don't vigorously clean them out (daily), they will take over the yard! Once infested, I'm not sure if I would call someone, or just go out in long sleeves and such to get rid of them.

Carpenter bees can often be eliminated by posting Lowes or Home Depot "Help Wanted" notices near their favorite hovering zones.

In my area during Spring and Summer there are always people on Craigslist looking for bees and they know how to eliminate 'the bad ones' for you.

Yeah, they are usually looking for honey bees, sadly, we are fresh out of those. Oddly enough it was quiet warm yesterday but didn't see any back there. I guess maybe they are like people and went crazy because the weather finally broke. After a few nice days in a row they calmed down....
