Okay so I got my antenna set up and working. Got the stellar labs 60 mile range yagi. It works way better. I'm even getting k43je. 32 channels total but like 4 of them are a blinking pattern test screen 24/7 like the channel off air pattern. Pretty sure they are used to test signals. My line up includes, fox..cbs..nbc...pbs...abc...wx....this...antenna tv...myn...movies...bounce....cw...country...ion...qubo...home shopping...abn..lwn...ion life...and rfd.

OK, all antenna freaks get the lecture about range. We never quote that figure around here without mentioning it's totally bogus marketing hype. There's no consistency from manufacturer to manufacturer, or even from antenna to antenna in a particular make.

So I deduce you got the stronger (more gain) of the two tri-boom UHF only Stellar Lab antennas. Good choice. :thumb:

OK, all antenna freakazoids get the lecture about channels versus stations. "32 channels" tells us very little. I know from looking at your Fool report that 32 stations is very unlikely, so I can only guess you're getting signals from about 12 different stations. (All subchannels are basically automatic.) So if you would like to continue the discussion, we will need either the call letters of the stations you receive as they appear in the Fool report, or the Real channel numbers as they appear in the Real column of the Fool report. It might be interesting to see which stations are being blocked by the water/cell tower.

OTOH, if you're happy, we're happy, and we can put this thread to bed.

While I do appreciate the help. I didn't come here to get a "lecture" about stuff I allready know but don't care to nerd about by being technical. I refered to the antenna I got as what it is called so people don't have to look up model numbers. And I am indeed getting 32 channels including subs and that's all that I cared to share. I got the help I needed, and thread can end. Just thought I would share my results.

I often have to resist the urge to be overly technical here. I have to remember that even though the participants in a thread may be experts, non-experts often come to the forum seeking advice as the result of a Google search, and I don't want to scare them away.

WHAT!?!? What antenna is called "the stellar labs 60 mile range yagi"?? There is no such thing. I'm the one who recommended that antenna to you, and I had no idea what you were talking about until I pulled up the ad on MCMElectronics. If you had given the model number, I would have known. If you had said "the large Stellar Labs tri-boom," I would have known. I don't look at, or remember, range figures because I know they are meaningless.

Tomorrow, the exact same company might publish an ad for the exact same antenna, with a range figure of 100 miles. Or it could be 30 miles. Either number is just as accurate as 60, and makes just as much sense.

MrPogi, people who are scared away by the truth, deserve what they get. This is not an antenna installation business, it's a message board. The idea should be to encourage discussion, not to dissuade it for fear of negative publicity.

Hey let's not get mad over something so stupid now. When you keep correcting people on every little detail, it gets annoying. People who come here need help with getting better reception and don't care to be corrected. Like how everyone keeps calling the coat hanger antenna a bow tie when it's a dipole. They don't care, they simply want better reception and help from friendly people. Now I didn't mean to offend you. If you want to teach people, there are nice ways to do it. I do agree that this stuff is cool and people should know the facts thou. Now can we agree that we are both awesome people forgive and move on? I respect you Rick.
