Dish Network Dropping Local Channels on 10-8-12 (Maybe)

If Dish can't settle with Gannett over retrans dispute before midnight, the following channels will disappear from their customers lineups:

— WXIA-TV, Atlanta

— WLBZ-TV, Bangor, Maine

— WGRZ-TV, Buffalo, N.Y.

— WKYC-TV, Cleveland, Ohio

— WLTX-TV, Columbia, S.C.

— KTVD-TV, Denver

— KUSA-TV, Denver

— WZZM-TV, Grand Rapids-Kalamazoo-Battle Creek, Mich.

— WFMY-TV, Greensboro, N.C.

— WTLV-TV, Jacksonville, Fla.

— WJXX-TV, Jacksonville, Fla.

— WBIR-TV, Knoxville, Tenn.

— KTHV-TV, Little Rock, Ark.

— WMAZ-TV, Macon, Ga.

— KARE-TV, Minneapolis-St. Paul

— KPNX-TV, Phoenix

— WCSH-TV, Portland, Maine

— KXTV-TV, Sacramento, Calif.

— KSDK-TV, St. Louis, Mo.

— WTSP-TV, Tampa-St. Petersburg, Fla.

That's quite a channels list there for Dish. I just saw where Gannett is asking Dish to disable the AutoHop feature plus more money. It's gettin nasty out there with the retrans disputes.

I'm not worried. My antenna works just fine for KUSA and KTVD. ;)

Maybe more people will discover they just don't need Dish anymore!!! It's not "Why pay more for TV?" anymore, it's "Why pay for TV?"

It won't last to long though, because most of these are likely "Must Carry" channels, and dish will be forced to compromise by the FCC if an agreement cannot be reached between the two.
