I have a friend that bought a converter, but nothing worked. He tried several different new antennas, but none worked. He said he feels that it is the transformer near his house is blocking his signals.... could it be that?
He can get some channels without converting, but using the converter, nothing.
Help.... anyone?

I tried it with my own antenna without the converter and got nothing at my friend's house. I did not try the converter on my lcd htv. We did not try another converter... I could go get another one. The one he had was dishnetwork brand analog converter....
when you say coax, what do you mean??? I am not much on things on tv...flat wire???
reply would help... even my hdtv did not work at his house....

if you are using rabbit ears or an indoor antenna you may be too far away for it to work the UHF digital signal is not as strong as the vhf analog signal if you use an indoor it must receive uhf signals. fo an indoor antenna it is recomended that you be no more than 15-20 miles from the transmitter anything over that needs a outdoor or at least an attic mount mid to long range antenna rated for red zone or above.:)

I live about 1 mile and half from a friend of mine who has trouble getting signals. He does have trees around his house and a transformer near him. Even my new hdtv did not work at his house...

then He needs to raise his antenna to get above the noise level every 20 feet of height increases the signal 15 fold due to the drop in noise. if he has an outdoor antenna try raising it.
