Equipment needed to setup a vintage system?

#1
I finally kicked Comcast out, and returned their cablebox with morass of cables, wires, connectors, etc. Since then I have been watching free TV shows and movies off the internet, but I want to get my previous setup working again. I have a LCD TV, VCR, DVD player, DVD recorder, and a 2/4 port video audio switch. Before I made the mistake of dealing with Comcast, I had to have a TV repairman come out to set it up (so I will again), but recall him charging me twice as much for cables, connectors, gizmos, and so on. Basically I'd like to try and make sure I have everything ready and on hand, before his house-call, so all he can bill me for is time and labor. What all sort of odds'n'ends do I need to buy? Is a TV antenna required to make any of my devices work, if I have no intention of watching 'off-air'? Thanks for any help.

Uitlander,

No, an antenna is not necessary for your planned setup. Your tuner will 'see' no signals available when you select the tuner option from your on-screen menu. Its hard to say what else you might need beyond good quality cables. Good luck and please let us know how it turns out.
