Has Anyone Heard More Rumors About A Cheaper XBox One?

#1
I have heard a lot of rumors lately about Microsoft coming out with a cheaper XBox One at some point this year. Supposedly, it wouldn't have a blu-ray drive and that's what will make it less expensive. Has anyone else heard those rumors?

Would they really take blueray off? That is what was limiting them so much with X360 when compared to PS3, they had to use worse textures so that they could fit on dvd's etc. But well, maybe it would be a good solution for those who prefer to download their games and not buy them in a box.

Yeah I've heard about it. The new model is supposed to cost 399$ (same as PS 4) and lose blue ray at least if we believe the rumors. There's also supposed to be a white model now but I doubt it will go for a small price. Maybe we'll find out more when E3 time comes

Here's a link to an article squashing the rumors Microsoft squashes rumors of a cheaper, all-digital Xbox One, however, the prices of the Xbox One were recently decreased in the UK so maybe a price decrease in the US might happen sooner rather then later.

these have been debunked and proven false. Microsoft will never release a blu-ray-less version as it would cut off one of their two main incomes (#1- game sales, #2- Xboxlive). It has been shown that the profit margin on the system itself is very small, so what benefit would they gain from limiting their main source of income (game sales).

It wouldn't cut off the sales of games if they were to use Cloud storage/ digital downloads You would still have to buy the games, But yes it is in the works to sell a no optical drive version with up to 1TB of space to fit everything or even on the cloud for saves. Welcome to the future where disc based movies/games might become obsolete

Yeah, thanks for the heads up. I'll keep my ear to the grindstone, or whatever that saying is. I might actually buy an XBox One if they did that.

I'm still planning on buying a PS4. Maybe the price will drop in the next year. Hopefully.

PS4 is a far better investment of your money. First off, it costs less but gives you more. And it really is the only one of the two that shows potential for future development

they aren't going to put out a slimmed version of the Xbone just yet. they will undoubtedly offer a version without the disc drive as soon as it seems feasible because it will funnel more money into the digital download format through Live. but this hardware revision won't be coming out this year.

I dont care to much for slimmed versions of consoles i got plenty of space but i think this is gonna be the last system upgraded for me within the first month of release just too many problems Ill wait the next upgrade out until atleast its a quarter fixed
