What inputs does your HDTV have, compared to computer outputs?

Best would be HDMI or DVI on both, next VGA.

HDTVs generally have maximum 1080X1920 resolution (except for 4K units) and on large screens that may me inadequate for computer display.

It definitely would be possible we do it, you just have to mess with the settings on the tv and on the pc while the TV is displaying the PC to make sure you have the right frame rate, and resolution and colors then you are ready to go! We do it all the time.
