I haven't watched this show too much, but it seems to me that the story line is a little too much like the now defunct show, Cane (Jimmy Smits) with the whole disfunctional family thing. What do you think? The season premiere for Brothers and Sisters is September 28th by the way.

Catch the show if you can, Jay. Then let me know what you think. I know it's entertainment, but I personally have had enough of disfunctional families on tv.

I like this show. It is not completely about "dysfunctional families". It is just about one messed up misunderstanding. The cast performances are fabulous. The story and screenplay are good too. A must watch, I'd say.

To be honest, I think most prime-time dramas which are about a prominent and powerful family, or at least prominent, are variations on a common theme, even though the specifics might be very different. I seem to remember that ABC ran Dynasty as a counterweight to CBS's Dallas back in the early 1980s, and people remarked that the Carringtons were the Denver equivalent of the Texas-based Ewings.
