Apple is adding 1080p content like crazy to iTunes, and it was only a matter of time before the blogosphere began comparison tests on video quality to other media types.
ARSTechnica leads the way with their 1080p comparison, which seems to point towards Blu-ray as the winner but not by much. They noted some grainyness in Apple TV movies (with comparison pictures to Blu-ray on their post) and also highlighted how Blu-ray has an additional audio channel included (DTS-HD) which offers better audio quality than that of iTunes' Dolby Digital 5.1.
Most people probably won't notice the difference on smaller HD television sets which is probably good news for Apple.
