New UVerse STB with Wifi

Seems pretty cool, but what are they going to use it for? My guess is whole home DVR. But I wonder if apartment complexes could be "wired" with wifi instead of running individual drops?

A whole home DVR would cut down on costs to the consumer who would otherwise rent 2-4 DVRs considerably. The home cloud media network will prob be the next big thing for TV watchers.

I agree. talking to cable customers they just want the actual convenience of it. Price matters some but they simply want their provider to offer it. I believe uverse has whole home dvr already btw. Since I upgraded to media center I use that as my whole home DVR solution and i dont know how I ever got along without it. When we migrate to the nursery at night we pause what we are watching and resume in the other room.

Are you able to use it wirelessly for HD? I've been thinking about using an old laptop with HDMI output for the same thing.
