Anyone know why my Roku 3 is showing up as an available wireless network with an SSID of "DIRECT-roku-504"? Weird. Can it be used as a wireless hotspot if it's connected to the internet? Do I need to secure it?

I don't have a Roku, but I just googled "DIRECT-roku" and got the answer quickly enough. The Roku is the access point for your wifi direct remote. Here's one thread: Roku Forums • View topic - Roku 3 shows up as a wifi hotspot

I have an ad hoc network with a password myself. I really REALLY don't think you have anything to worry about. What does your Roku tell the remote that anyone else wants to know?

I see that this thread hasn't had any recent posts, but I only now have encountered a problem regarding this issue. My Roku 3 "hotspot" is on the same Wi-Fi channel as my router, and blocks Internet access. I've had the Roku for over a year, but this has only now become a problem. For the present I just unplug Roku when I'm not using it, but I wonder if anyone has a solution or explanation that might help. Thanks.

Router channel

You can log into your router's admin page and change the router's channel to help with interference that maybe occurring

very mad about direct roku

Whenever i turn my tablet on to be connected to my wireless network which i have to use the "WPS" on my router which i have always been doing with no issues. Now when i have been doing it it states that it is already in use by directroku which its really annoying. Now i cant use my tablet anywhere because of the roku. I need it off my tablet but how do i do that. It just started showing up.
