Do you ever wonder if the network gets alot of flack because of the druggy character he plays? I realize his character needs the meds because of his physical pain, but will there come a time when he will substitute this needs for the drugs with something else?

I doubt it. House has always had this 'People don't change' attitude and he is the perfect example for it. If it happens though it'll be on the shows' last season.

I hope the last season won't happen for a long time. House is such an alter ego for people who wish they could be more like him and say and do whatever they want with little if any risk of repercussion.

I always admire people that are able to say and do whatever you want, but try working them as a team member/coworker. No fun.

I guess these situations work great on TV and as viewers we can live through their alter egos. But in real life...well, you go arond doing and saying whatever you please will probably get you canned, regardless of how much of a genius you are.

I honestly don't think they will break his addiction on the TV show. Also that's why the show is such a success because he does his best work when he's on the Vicoden...but at the same time it's not a good role model for younger kids who thinks drugs would help them in life...

House will never loose his drug addiction, because this would change the main character of the show and this would not work.

Of course he is not a good role model for the kids, but it is the parents job to show the kids that he is only playing a role for TV. And kids have to learn that TV and real life are different kind of things.

Well at the end of season 5 we see House going to the asylum. We won't really know if he can stop his addiction on the upcoming season. Well all we can do now is to wait for it.

Yeah I remember him going to the asylum at the season finale. Wilson drove him there, right?

Season 5 does end with Wilson dropping him off. I think House's drug use is an homage to sherlock holmes. if you've noticed, the series house takes a lot of its inspiration from sherlock holmes. holmes was a cocaine user/addict and house is a vicoden/opiod/hallucinogin user/addict. I have yet to see any of season 5, but I'm sure at some point they will get him clean...

Even though Hugh Laurie is only playing the "role" of Dr. House, he is by far one of the more realistic character than many others EXACTLY because of his many flaws. With House what you see is what you get, and he doesn't care who he upsets because of it.
