Will the Roku Streaming Stick Be Better Than Roku 3?

#1
O-O posted this blog earlier today about the new Roku Streaming Stick due out in April and now available for pre-order. It looks pretty cool...cool to the point, I might hold off on my Roku 3 test to try this one out since its half the price! :

The only concern I would have is the battery life of the darn thing, though it does look like it would be really cool to take on the road if you travel a lot and stay in places where you would have WiFi accessible!

I think the Streaming Stick requires power from USB or wall plug, not battery. Agreed though, looks like it has the same specs as a Roku 3 for less money.

The wall plug for the Roku stick would be cool. I keep looking for more info on the pending Amazon set-top box though. I'm wondering how they are planning the announcement timing with regards to when the box will be released! I think Roku was smart in doing the pre-orders on the stick to avoid running out of inventory after release!

Right.

Amazon is going to have a tough time. Especially if it wants to compete with Apple TV. The reason why Apple TV does so well is because people love the seamless integration between their Apple devices and Apple TV. What's the benefit of owning a Amazon device? I mean, Roku and Apple TV are both capable of getting Amazon Prime, and Apple TV already sells its own content through iTunes. I guess they're gambling on Amazon Prime offerings that are going to rival Netflix some day but that hasn't happened yet.

Wow, that actually looks really cool... Crap another thing I have to ponder over!!!! LOL I mean if they are doing pre-orders can't you just go to the manufacturing website and ask questions?

I was looking at the Roku 3 but after hearing about the streaming stick I am not sure. I am going to have to do some research and figure this out. Looks like I have a new project for the weekend! LOL
